What to expect.
First of all, your comfort and specific needs are top priority. If you are to be getting a massage for the first time or have been getting massage for years, your experience under my hands is my main concern.
I personally have been getting massage on a regular basis and I have found that there is nothing more frustrating than paying for and not getting what is wanted or needed.
In school I was trained in a multitude of therapies. Swedish massage was one of them. I use long, flowing strokes, gliding; kneading, cross fiber friction and vibration. Another technique I was trained in was Shiatsu which uses pressure on those points of muscular tension.
As the years have progressed I have incorporated into my routine many other methods I have learned. I can do deep tissue massage for those who want to eliminate the toxins trapped in their muscles or I can do a very soft soothing massage for those who want to let the rest of the world go away for a while and fall into a deep tranquil healing.
Then there are those who may want to get right to and rid of that nagging pain in a specific area such as the neck, shoulder; low back or perhaps sciatica.
Usually I start with, but not always, a body balancing using Touch For Health to help me unfold the road map and find out where the points of discomfort originate. This will often quickly alleviate and eliminate any discomfort and will let me know where I may need to focus the treatment.
Again your needs and wants are top priority.
Working as a Physical Therapist assistant in my early career I had an opportunity to work with hundreds of people who were in need of therapy for specific injuries. Whether they were auto accidents, job related or recreational it has given me an incredible knowledge of how injuries manifest and how deep seated they can become.
With the thousands of people I have been blessed to work with, I have become well aware of the fact that every event in our lives has a direct link on our whole being.
